IV.(Sturm)/JG 3 in Normandy, June 1944

Hi all,

The IV./JG 3 was subordinate to Fliegerführer West / II. Fliegerkorps during the days they spent in France, in June 1944?

They fought on the 7th Army sector?

How many pilots were lost on jabo missions? And how many victories the IV./JG 3 had in that period?

They used only the SC 250 bombs in jabo missions? Or used other, as the AB 250?

Thanks,
Franklin

IV.(Sturm)/JG 3 in Normandy, June 1944

Hello Franklin

According to Prien, IV.(Sturm)/JG 3 claimed the following victory during its stay in France in June 1944:

10 June 1944: Unteroffizier Harry Wald of 12./JG 3 claimed a Mustang at 12:25 at 05 / 10 755 (Caen): tiefflug as his first victory.

It suffered the following losses:

6 June 1944: Fw 190 A flown by an unknown pilot crashed during ferry flight, unknown location, 100%
8 June 1944: Fw 190 A flown by an unknown pilot suffered technical malfunction/accident, location unknown
11 June 1944: Fw 190 A flown by an unknown pilot suffered technical malfunction/accident, location unknown
14 June 1944: Fw 190 A flown by an unknown pilot suffered technical malfunction/accident, location unknown
15 June 1944: Fw 190 A flown by an unknown pilot suffered technical malfunction/accident, location unknown

I hope this helps.

Horrido!

Leo
