The November 1940 RAF raid on Munich is said to have triggered Hitler to bomb Coventry a few days later...

We're getting off-topic but detailed orders for »Mondschein Sonate« went out to KGr. 100 on the afternoon of 9 November and a KG 1 pilot shot down that evening already knew about a “colossal raid” on Coventry and Birmingham during the coming full-moon period. That would be impressively quick work if the attack was in retaliation for one on Munich just before midnight on the 8th.
