Re: RAF raid on Munich 5th June 1940
A newspaper story, June 5, 1940.
https://www.newspapers.com/clip/57317541/kenosha-news/ https://www.newspapers.com/clip/5731...pasadena-post/ Interesting statement that Anti-Aircraft batteries "drove off" the raiders. (Probably worth a silver cup.) An example of a report on British raids (November, 1940): https://www.newspapers.com/clip/5731...e-news-herald/ https://www.newspapers.com/clip/5731...e-news-herald/ Last edited by RSwank; 14th August 2020 at 16:44. |

Re: RAF raid on Munich 5th June 1940
The November 1940 RAF raid on Munich is said to have triggered Hitler to bomb Coventry a few days later...

Quote:
We're getting off-topic but detailed orders for »Mondschein Sonate« went out to KGr. 100 on the afternoon of 9 November and a KG 1 pilot shot down that evening already knew about a “colossal raid” on Coventry and Birmingham during the coming full-moon period. That would be impressively quick work if the attack was in retaliation for one on Munich just before midnight on the 8th. |
