Re: Oblt Friedrich Butterweck

HI Chris, That's very interesting!! Could I see these pics please?? Do you know who get him out of the sky?? Do you find out more about Buitterweck as I looking for a photograph of him. At the moment I am busy with a research to the loss of a French Potez 63-11 shotdown by Butterweck on the 13th May 1940 over Poppel(B) and crashed mins later in a small dutch village Oirschot. The community have plans to erect a memorial at the spot where the aircraft crashed which took also the lives of the three crewmembers.

Thanks Chris

Butterweck was probably shot down by Fg Off H K F Matthews of 54 Sqn. I have four photos showing the wreckage of his Bf 109 (see my book The Luftwaffe Fighters Battle of Britain) so doubt whether this would be suitable for your memorial. If anyone has any photos of him it would be Don Caldwell but there are none in his book on JG 26
