Two Caudrons to Identify
Hello,

Currently for sale on ebay at:

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-Flugzeu...UAAOSwug5dUbsI

is a photo containing a DH.84? and two Caudrons. I believe the Caudrons may be C.690M and C.870 P2, but I am uncertain. Can anyone please assist with the identity of these aircraft?

Hi Clint - The two Caudrons are indeed a C.690 and the rare C.870. The De Havilland is a DH 89A

Thanks for the confirmation. I was a bit unsure about the id of the DH as well so good to have the correct id for that machine too.

Indeed it is possible to see a tiny hint of a G (its registration) in the photo, so I am with you with regard to it being an impressed aircraft.

Also admit I was too lazy to start and try to track it down....

PS: Checking my French sources for the C.870 they say both were evacuated to Orleans-Bricy on 9 June 1940 and where No 01 was captured by the Germans. No 02 was moved to Biarritz where it was found in 1941. So far only No 01 seems to have been confirmed in use by Luftwaffe

Hello

C.870 No 02 was also captured by germans on june 1940 at Orléans-Bricy. There's pictures of it amongst others aircrafts captured at Orléans-Bricy.

How certain is that ID? I have never seen a photo myself where either No 01 or 02 are visible. Two different French books state 02 was relocated to Biarritz and found there in 1941.

Do you have a photo where the digits are visible and where we can see it is a German photo??

Sadly I have no photo where the digits are visible, but No 01 has a retractable landing gear, No 2 a fixed landing gear.

I have found this pictures a long time ago on a forum now closed.
