Question to Mr. Prien

Mr. Prien, I read in Teil 5 of your Jagdverbände series that 7./JG 26 Bf 109E-7/Ns wore a black heart when in Sicily.
Can you confirm this fact?
Do you know the reason why they changed their red hearts into black hearts? This seems rather odd.
