Luftwaffe losses in Coburg on 2 April 1945
Hello,
According to a book on Coburg history by Harald Sandner, on 2 April 1945 20 Fw 190s coming from Hanau tried to land on the Brandensteinsebene airfield near Coburg, but the runway was too short and more than half of the landings ended badly, several pilots being killed. This formation could have been from JG 2. I have the book on JG 2 by Christian Federl that includes a pilot loss list, but the last entries are on 18 March 1945, so no help here. Can someone confirm the above story, and give the ID of the unit involved, or even of the casualties ? Thanks in advance |
