Attack on Naples 14/12/1940

Hi,

Colleagues,
Please help me identify which British planes attacked Italian ships in Naples on the night of 14/12/1940 and damaged the heavy cruiser Pola.
In work World War II Sea War, Volume 3: The Royal Navy is Bloodied in the Mediterranean by Donald A Bertke, Gordon Smith, Don Kindell it is written

14 DECEMBER 1940 Italian heavy cruiser POLA was damaged by British Swordfish aircraft of 830 Squadron from Malta, during an air attack at Naples.

but it is completely impossible.

Re: Attack on Naples 14/12/1940

Hello,

The unit involved was the newly-formed detachment of No.148 Sqn RAF (formed from elements of 38, 99 & 115 Sqns at Luqa, on 14th December, 1940).

The Wellington Detachment (of 148 Sqn), was now, nominally, a squadron, albeit on the Island of Malta, and on that same day (14 December 1940), nine Wimpeys bombed Italian warships at Naples, this time with good results.

See:
Trusty To The End: The History of 148 (Special Duties) Squadron 1918-1945.
