Beyond Courage - Norman Franks

Has anyone come across this book about Walrus air-sea rescue ops in the Med etc. Would be interested to hear an opinion of it. Should be good going by the author but I'm just trying to justify breaking my self-imposed book buying ban...again!

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andy

It's worth buying - but then I'm a friend of Norman's and he'll probably buy me a beer if I help sell one of his books!!

Cheers
Brian

I enjoyed it very much, well written and a very interesting subject, it is a good book to break a self imposed new books ban.

Now where shall we meet to collect our beers Brian?

Cheers Paolo

Re: Beyond Courage - Norman Franks

I have it at home right now from the Library.

It looks like a very comprehensive book indeed. The incident that I was looking for information on was not included though, but I am sure, that there is a logical explaination.

This was Danish Luftwaffe pilot Poul Sommer's third victory following a ASR operation intended to rescue P/O Miller of 185 Squadron on 20 March 1942

The incident is included in Prien et al.'s II/JG27-book and and Cull et al.'s Spitfires over Sicily, so I am in no immidiate lack of info :-)
