Osprey emblem would be a wasp emblem. Interesting otherwise - have not seen the photos at first.

Hi! This link - In 1991, the plane was found (WerkNr. 3235) and now it is located in Berlin, in the technical museum

According to the Volksbund he is currently not buried in a Soldatenfriedhof but is believed to be buried at Liza in Russia. So presumably the bodies were recovered at the time.

Hi guys

The following is an extract from 'Air War over the Arctic'

The rampant Hptm Gerhard Schaschke (Stab/ZG76) claimed an I-16 near Litsa Bay on 5 July, accompanied by more from Z-Staffel. The Bf110s had taken off at 15:00 on a mission to Polyarnoe and claimed success over various surface vessels and also set fire to surrounding warehouses and sheds. During this mission LN+ER flown by Ltn Dietrich Weyergang/Uffz Kurt Tigges was shot down by AA fire in the Titovka area and crash-landed at the northen tip of Litsa Bay; both crewmen were killed and their bodies were recovered by a Finnish ski patrol nine days later

Re: Bf110 C-4 ossprey emblem and pilot's ring

Hi Zippy & others

Has anyone been able to establish details of Weyergang's claims - seemingly at least ten? The markings on the fin seem to confirm that number, if not more

It is believed that he was credited with five during the Battle of Britain, presumably while flying with 8./ZG76 - any details?

Cheers
Brian
