Information Concerning Loss of Uffz. August Woltering - fighter pilot - 10.08.1943

Hi,

Can anyone provide information concerning the death of Uffz. August Woltering.

He was a fighter pilot killed on the 10th August 1943 over the coast of Sicily.

Any information on his aircraft, unit and how he died would be helpful.

Many thanks and merry Christmas

Rick

Hi,

Uffz. August Woltering was shot down by a South African Spitfire pilot on a mission beginning at 17:05 on 10 August 1943. There is quite a bit of detail about this combat in the recently released book written by Morten Jessen and myself, Focke-Wulf Fw 190 in the Battle for Sicily, including first-hand accounts from Woltering's Rottenfuehrer, and from one of the successful South African pilots. The book is available from the company website: www.airwarpublications.com

Cheers,
Andrew A.
