Information Concerning Loss of Uffz. August Woltering - fighter pilot - 10.08.1943
Hi,
Can anyone provide information concerning the death of Uffz. August Woltering. He was a fighter pilot killed on the 10th August 1943 over the coast of Sicily. Hi,
Uffz. August Woltering was shot down by a South African Spitfire pilot on a mission beginning at 17:05 on 10 August 1943. There is quite a bit of detail about this combat in the recently released book written by Morten Jessen and myself, Focke-Wulf Fw 190 in the Battle for Sicily, including first-hand accounts from Woltering's Rottenfuehrer, and from one of the successful South African pilots.
