Does anyone know when these first entered service?

Re: AB series bomb containers
According to "German Air-Dropped Weapons to 1945", by Wolfgang Fleischer, Midland Publishing, 2003, AB-23 entered service in the Spring of 1942. The AB-70-4 was first used in 1943 (no more specific). Increasing sizes of the AB containers came online early 1943. Development of the AB-1000 was not yet completed as of January 1943.

Re: AB series bomb containers
Thanks Steven.
I have a 1940 reference to "fuel and AB and MG ammunition" in a September 1940 ULTRA so, assuming it still stands for Abwurfbehälter, it probably meant drop tanks in that case. |

Re: AB series bomb containers
I was thinking in terms a munitions container, not supply. This is dated 1939.
