Fl.H.Kdtr. E 12/XII 1940

Gents,

What units would have been stationed with Fliegerhorst-Kommandantur E 12/XII third quarter of 1940 (July-September)?

I would guess whilst in Villacoublay-Süd, France.

I am trying to determine the units of Uffz. Paul Stäudle whose Fliegendes Personal Ausweis was issued by this unit. All i know is that he was awarded both classes of Iron Cross with a Kampffliegerstaffel.

He was promoted to Unteroffizier 1.10.1940 and this entry bears the signature of an Oberleutnant......I currently can not identify the signature.

Incidentally the front is signed by Hauptmann Karl Baumlein as Kdt. Fl.H.Kdtr. E 12/XII.

Thanks in advance
Ian

Hello/Bonjour Ian,

For answering your question, take a look first at this excellent work :

Re: Fl.H.Kdtr. E 12/XII 1940

Thanks Frederic,

I forgot about that excellent work!!

Seeing as they are stood in front of a He 111, that makes the units:

Stab, III./KG 55 (Jun 40 – Jun 41);
I., II./KG 55 (Jun-Jul 40);
I./KG 27 (Jun-Jul 40);
4.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 121 (Jul, Aug 40 - ?);

I am now thinking the signature could be that of Oblt. Jürgen Bartens, Staka 8/KG 55.

With that said, the Ausweis only has checks up to the the second quarter of 1941 (April-June) and nothing further. I can not find a Paul Stäudle in the German War Graves site or in any Quartermaster returns....perhaps he just stopped flying?

/Ian
