JG 54 victory (tryin to match a Russian loss)

Hi all,

On 10.8.42 Kapitan Sergei Ilyich Sumichev of 845 IAP was killed in aerial combat on the Volkhov front.

This makes him likely the victim of a JG 54 pilot. Does anyone know who was actually responsible for his demise?

Nick

In Tony Wood list, there are 16 victories for JG 54 this day, including 12 fighters, 1 Il-2 and 3 Pe-2.

Do you have extra details for Sumichev loss (time, location, aircraft flown) ?

Sadly not, Laurent.
I am just going off the www.allaces.ru entry for this pilot.

www.allaces.ru under the units has them listed as having Yak-7 but another site has Yak-1. They switched over to Yak-9 in 1944. So it was a Yak of some type. Some units had a mixture of the two.
