Juha

I am not the right man to even try and review this book, but I will give it a shot. From my point of view it is one of the best books ever published by Classic. I am sure an expert can find a few faults (he always can... ), but I cannot.

The book is not only about the Dornier 215 but also about how it came into being via various 'odd' models of the Do 17 (and developed into the 217) all using the DB 601 engine.

You will not only find here the evolution and development of the aircraft in great detail but also why and how it was born. You will find every use of it, everyone who was interested in it and why they never got it.

There is even a technical description taking up some 22 pages (many photos/drawings), however if that satisfies your needs is a bit beyond me

The appendices give (for example) all known details of every 215 built including the Do 17s above and early recce 217s.

The photos chosen are excellent and well chosen. Many (most?) are unknown to me.

Mikael has also the courage to openly admits he stands on the shoulder of a giant, Günther Ott, which no doubt has made the book that much better.
It is unfortunate that Classic has made, so far, no use of neither him nor the two other fellow members of Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Luftfahrthistorik.
A great shame in my opinion.

Reading everyone who has contributed something to his work is also like reading who-is-who on TOCH.

Just about the only thing I cannot understand is why a certain Stig Jarlevik is mentioned, since I believe I know him pretty well and I can't for the life of me understand what he could have contributed with....

Mikael, I simply must congratulate you to this outstanding book. Can we perhaps hope for a follow up on the Do 17 as well? You may not sing or compose like your relative but this book is clearly my music, so I hope you don't stop here.

Cheers
Stig

Nothing further needs to be said. it is an excellent book. I was rather disappointed by a couple of Junkers titles from the same publisher, but this is top quality. Go ahead and buy it!
