Question Forum Calendar...help me fill it please

It would be nice to fill this calendar with dates which have an historic meaning, some are obvious D-Day, Adler Tag, VJ day etc. But some may be less obvious like the death of Moelders, the launch of the first V2 or the liberation of Auschwitz.

So could you please help me make a list with dates that you would like to see commemorated?

Perhaps there is someone who really like this concept and would like to an active partcipant, finding and filling special dates. Please let me know.

IMHO it would add a nice historic flavor.

15AF dates

Hi Roy

Good idea...and I as a 15.AF enthusiast (Air war central europe respectively) want to add NOvember 1st 1943 as 15.AF build on paper, 2nd NOv 1943 as their first mission, perhaps as well July 7th, 1944 - first raid by 15AF to Blechhammer - one of the fearest targets on the north...

I would suggest two dates of significance to Brazilian Air Force in WW II. Being the sole South American Air Force to enter combat in Europe it´s worth mentioning.

1 - December 18 (1943) First Fighter Aviation Group of Brazilian Air Force is created.

2 - April 22 (1945) Fighter Aviation Day: On this date the 1ºGAvCa (First Fighter Aviation Group) realised 44 combat missions in a single day.

The complete history can be read here: http://www.rudnei.cunha.nom.br/FAB/en/index.html

Enter History, then At Wat.

Mhmm, I am not sure what 'liberation' of Auschwitz had to aviation but it must be noted here that it was only a change of ownership. The camp was taken over by Soviets and became a transition point for Poles, mostly soldiers of Home Army before transportation to Gulags in Siberia.
Also a statement 'first political prisoners arrive at Oswiecim' needs some comment - actually decisive was Polish nationality and education but of course there were plenty of people involved in underground went there as well, including airmen like płk. Juliusz Gilewicz, who organised escapes for the airmen from Poland tio France. 'Political prisoners' does not sound very fortunate for me.
And of course I am surprised there was no mention of 1.09.1939!
