We are saddened to report the loss of Robert H. “Bob” Wolff, who passed away earlier today at the age of 103. Bob served as a pilot in the 418th Bomb Squadron and was the last surviving veteran from the Hundredth who took part in the Regensburg mission. On September 16, 1943, Bob and his crew were forced to make a water landing just off the French coast after their aircraft sustained fatal damage. Bob became a prisoner of war at Stalag Luft III, and was among the POWs who took part in the forced winter march to Moosburg in 1945. In the post-war years, Bob remained a steadfast leader within the 100th Bomb Group Foundation and he took great pride in helping organize mini-reunions for the veterans and their families in Palm Springs, California. It was always a delight to have Bob and his beloved wife Barbara at reunions, and Bob was known for maintaining such a positive outlook on life. For Bob, every day “was a gift” after spending time as a POW during the war. We will never forget Bob’s service to our nation, and we extend our sincere condolences to the Wolff family. See less
