Re: Identification of losses on 19/05/44

Hello Michel,

in JFV Vol. 13/I page 471 is an informative comparison of the German fighter claims on 19 May 1944 and the 19 confirmed American losses.

German claims:
5 P-38 (3 by fighters, 2 by flak), 13 P-47 (12 by fighters, 1 by flak) and 13 P-51 (12 by fighters, 1 by flak).

American confirmed losses:
4 P-38, 4 P-47 and 11 P-51.

Regards
Leo

Re: Identification of losses on 19/05/44

Hi Leo

I don't have JFV vol.13/1,but in the old book on JG1/JG11,we find (absent in microfilms):

5./JG1:Uffz.Milde=1 P-47(N.W Hannover)
6./JG1=Uffz.Wurl=1 P-47(Minden)
5./JG11=Uffz Druhe=1 P-51(Hoya)
5./JG11=Lt.Klaffenbach=1 P-51 (no place)

These are confirmed in more recent JFV vol.13/1 ?

Michel

Re: Identification of losses on 19/05/44

Hello Michel,

the JFV Vol. 13/I and 13/II cover the service of the Luftwaffe day fighter units (day by day chronicles) in the Reichsverteidigung from 1 January to 31 December 1944 and in the West from 1 October to 31 December 1944.
JFV Vol. 13/III covers the period in the West from 1 January to 30 September 1944.

The Vol. 13/IV and 13/V with the tables of claims and losses are not yet published! So the claims in the old chronicles of “Jagdgeschwader 1 and 11“ (Vol. 2 1944) can not yet be compared with a current edition of the JFV.

Regards
Leo
