Hello Alain,
Just to make sure, is it 42-38101 "UX-D" you seek, 92BG/327BS, 11/09/44. Pilot Lt. Russell J. BUNDESEN.

Re: Crew B-17 43-38101 92BG/327BS emergency landing in Belgium

Alain,
Going thru dusty old files, I found in a HQ 92nd BG (H) report of 27 Nov 1944 about the 26 Nov 1944 mission:

[i]4. Aircraft lost.
a. A/C # 42-31801 was hit by a direct flak burst in #4 engine which caught fire and the A/C slipped out of formation shortly after bombs away. However, a message was received by the group D/F station at 1323 hours that the ship was proceeding to Antwerp. At this time nothing further has been heard of the A/C."

In a Report of the 327th BS Operations Officer for 26 Nov 1944, the crew is listed as:

P 1st Lt Walter (NMI) Kirkbride 0-815502
CP Capt William A. Stroud Jr. 0-801579
? F/O William Gueguen ? 126762
B 1st Lt John E. Kozorra Jr O-765694
R T/Sgt Clement W. Lichty 33365483
E T/Sgt Warren G. Winters 13088377
BT S/Sgt Arthur E. Wilson 31284391
TG 1st Lt Joseph C. Mertes 0-819848
WG S/Sgt William P. Morgan 32167441
RN (?) 1st Lt Warren T. Doolittle 0-707024
N 1st Lt William E. Goode 0-717338

Abundance of Willams and officers that day... The ? means report was hard to decipher.

I noticed that S/Sgt Arthur Wilson was KIA. Buried at Margraten.

Also check https://b17flyingfortress.de/en/b17/...1-satans-lady/ where you can find some names back in another crash landing on 14 Aug 1944.

Groet,
Leendert

Re: Crew B-17 43-38101 92BG/327BS emergency landing in Belgium

Alain,
Dusted off another Group document:

"On November 26 and again on November 29, aircraft of the Group attacked the oil refineries at Misburg, rated the No. 2 target on the priority list. Leading the formation over the target on the November 26 mission, the aircraft piloted by 1st Lt Walter Kirkbride of the 327th Squadron was heavily hit by flak and fell out of the formation with the #4 engine on fire, shortly after bombs away. For a time, the Group's perfect record for the month wavered in the balance, then word was received that Lt Kirkbride had crash-landed in Belgium, 8 miles behind the lines. S/Sgt Arthur E. Wilson, ball turret gunner, was killed instantly by a piece of flak which pierced his heart, S/Sgt William P. Morgan, waist gunner, was slightly injured in the right forearm."

Groet,
Leendert
