Re: He 219 W.Nr. 310316

Hello,

219-320 has nothing to do with a Werkenummer of the whole aircraft, it refers to the left inner landing flap. If I remember it correctly this landingflap with Fertigungszeichen lxx refers to a sub-supplier in Kiel.

Best regards, Marcel Hogenhuis

Re: He 219 W.Nr. 310316

Can someone
- confirm that I read the EinschlagNr. DB 603 E-1 WNr 01603099
- give an educated guess where the DB 603 out of this production batch was produced?

Re: He 219 W.Nr. 310316

Regarding the interesting WNr & series batches mentioned above, has it been considered among the He 219 experts that for series productions ususally batch orders from the RLM/Nachschub started with xxxxx1 for (ususally) 10, 20, 50 or so aircraft from a production firm (final assembly) e.g. at Heinkel Vienna (EHW) or Rostock (EHR) acc. to the RLM Lieferplan.

Only the last Werknumber was then logically "open", in case an order batch was less than 10, 20 etc. but it should have started with a '1'.

Is there a plausible reason why these batches should not have started with a xxxxx1 apart from the fact that we have not found an evidence yet? That would enlarge the theoretical total He 219 production number (300+) again.

Of course one reason for some missing numberes is destruction (bombing, strafing etc.) during the production process or if some semi-finished fuselages have been taken out of delivery for e.g. structural testes or conversion tests like the Umbau program.

Hope my experience from other Luftwaffe-Baumuster research contributes to the 8-219-Werknummern considerations…

Hello everyone,
Post #12 - Unless I am mistake, DB 603 E-1 (MNr. 01603099) was produced by POMO (Pommersche Motorenbau) GmbH, Settin, Altdamm, and carried the Hersteller code “hst.”
Respectfully,

Re: He 219 W.Nr. 310316

Hello Martin,

You have raised an interesting subject and in a perfect, orderly world 'the system' would have worked the way you have described. Fortunately (for history, not historians) the Third Reich sunked rapidly into chaos and commonly accepted 'best practices' have been put aside. As you probably know the Adibert Braun Flugbuch, you will find some interesting Stammkennzeichen 'between' the CS+Qx range and KO+Hx range...

The presently known He219 production is a combination of known Werkenummer and/or Werkenummer/Stammkennzeichen combinations (from over 60 different flight logs), known deliveries per month, known first flights, demanded output by the RLM, known transfer flights from ULTRA etc. etc.

The largest challenge is to reconstruct the history of the EHR production. I am especially looking for more FlÜG flight logs of Gruppe Nord and Mitte, because here lays the key to new insights. This work is slowly moving forward.

Therefore I appreciate if you do continue to think with us, there is still a lot to discover.

Best regards, Marcel

Pommersche Motorenbau GmbH (PoMo)
Arnimswalde (now is under Polish name: Załom) near city of Altdamm
