according to the chronicle of Jochen Prien „IV./Jagdgeschwader 3“ on 20 April 1945 the IV./JG 3 encounterd Soviet fighters in the area of Berlin and Frankfurt/Oder. Losses of 4 Fw 190, pilots missing: 14./JG 3 Fw Willi Maximowitz Luftkampf Jäger, area Frankfurt/Oder, 100% 14./JG 3 Uffz Hans Anders Luftkampf Jäger, Ort unbekannt, 100% 15./JG 3 Uffz Robert Canaris Feindflug, Ursache unbekannt, Ort unbekannt, 100% 15./JG 3 Fw Bruno Neumann Luftkampf Spitfires, area Berlin, 100%. Claims: 14./JG 3 Uffz Walter Kutz (4.) ? 15./JG 3 Fw Erich Miedl (2.) Yak 15./JG 3 Uffz Rohloff (2.) Il-2 15./JG 3 Fw Reinhold Hoffmann (11.) Spitfire Regards Leo |

The chronicle of Prien is known to me. Prien writes of an unknown 4th airman from the Maximowitz swarm. We located between Strausberg and Berlin 3 crashes of Fw190. These are about 1 -2 km apart. One of this crash site is that of a member of the IV. (Sturm) / JG3. He is still MIA. Residents reported that the crash occurred after April 19 1945.On that date the people left their village in front of the Russians. Greetings, Rene |
