Re: Captured British Aircraft
Quote:
This is not A4874. There were two aircraft with the code 4 from 40Sq shot down on the same date, 9 March 1917. This is the second one 6456. B Rgds Stig |

Re: Captured British Aircraft
Hi Stig,
Thanks for the correction. Careless of me. I see that the style of 4 is completely different between the two machines. Regards, Clint |

Re: Captured British Aircraft
Indeed Clint
Two different flights. A-flight used red digits (outlined in white) B-flight used white digits C-flight used blue digits (also outlined in white) Which is which on the photos? Even though I have many photos of each aircraft, the light varies and I don't know the shade of blue and red, so I leave it at that.... Cheers Stig |

Re: Captured British Aircraft
Thanks Clint ! According to the very good book The Sky Their Battlefield II page 129 we have on 06/11/1917 2lt RC Taylor of n°3 squadron lost in clouds flight landing at Sedan ; he left but driven east by wind came down (again) to land near Namur ; then re-took off to fly west but travelled south until finally driven down by weather and no oil.
