May be an Italian (SAML, Societa Anonimica mecanica lombarda, Monza)
license built Aviatik B I with water cooled Salmson radial engine.

Thanks for the response. It is entirely possible that the machine is a SAML built Aviatik, but the long tailpiece seems to deviate significantly from any Aviatik I 've previously seen, whether from the parent company or SAML. Having said that it does look , to my eyes anyway, Aviatik like around the cockpit area.

After digging a bit in the early years of Aviatik (then in Mulhouse, Alsace, but not France at this moment), the photo comes from a serie of shots taken for the factory. The same plane, under a slight different angle, appears in that document written by the local aéro-club, named Aviatik... :

So the plane could be the Aviatik P12, the first prototype of the biplane serie designed by Robert Wild

Hello Jean,

Thanks for the interesting attachments. I look forward to working my way through the aerobulle attachment imminently.

Interestingly both documents differ on the id of the aircraft with the first going with the P 12, while the Victor Stoeffler document identifies ithe machine as the P 19.

One of the reason's I believe the aircraft is the P 19, apart from the link in my previous post in this thread is because Bruno Lange in Typenhandbuch Luftfahrttechnik P.49 specifically mentions a 130 ps Salmson engine as per the seller's description.

If anyone has a photo of the Aviatik P 12 which differs from the machine shown, it would be interesting to see.

It appears to be the Aviatik P 19 in its final form, or so I assume given the number on the fuselage - a racing number pesumably. In any event the tail is different from that shown on the P 19 image shown in the link in the fourth post of this thread.
