Hungarian Bf 109s

Sorting through Alfred Price's photos and came across this. Not Luftwaffe per se but someone might have the answer as to what, when and where?

Re: Swiss Bf 109s

Chris,

those are hungarian machines. Here is the caption I noted for this already published shot:
Bf 109 G-14 W.Nr. 511 221 "W1+43", 101/6 vadászszázad, Veszprém, late 1944. Source: Punka 2002, p. 72.

Precise source is György Punka, Hungarian Aces of World War 2, Osprey, 2002. The W.Nr. of "W1+143" is legible at the base of the tailplane.

Cheers
Marc

Re: Swiss Bf 109s

Thanks all. More haste less speed with the nationality! There must have been a number of these photos-this is an original one with no notes on the back as to where it came from

Re: Hungarian Bf 109s

I had access to the original negatives. I scanned both and published them in Hungarian Fighter Colours, vol. 2, as Michel (focusfocus) noted above.

Re: Hungarian Bf 109s

Mine is an original wartime print-where Alfred Price got it and others from such as the attached Romanian one, I wish he had noted on the back!

Re: Hungarian Bf 109s

This one is also known to me. A nice one!

By the way, Chris, any Bf 109G (or Dewoitine D.520) photos in Bulgarian colours, by chance?

Re: Hungarian Bf 109s

Here are sample photos of a Bf 109G and a D.520 in Bulgarian markings, for reference. I am looking for similar photos for my book, which will be published very soon (in about a month or two). Many thanks for your help!
