Re: JG 4 and JG 5 on October 16 1944
All I have is that Fw. Rudolf Rixecker 9/JG4 in a Bf109 G-6 fell in combat at Horaschtowitz, Uffz Badow Friedemann 4/JG4 baled out of his G-14 wounded at Komotau. While 8/JG5 lost the G-14's of Uffz Claus Mahnke who fell in combat over Jeschnitz, Fahn. Ehrhardt was injured north of Prague in a crashlanding and Uffz Herbert Steiner fell in combat at Willitschin.
This are from loss lists from another researcher which do not indicate the type of operation being flown, I hope this is of some help, Regards Brian Bines |

Re: JG 4 and JG 5 on October 16 1944
Hi, Michal
Here is what I have on the JG 5 part: http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=127772 http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=127773 http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=127774 So the II./JG 5 definitely were in action on this date. Haven't checked records for what kind of action they were in on this date. The loss records quote the aircraft flown as being Bf 109G-14 ASM models. Regards, Andreas B |

Re: JG 4 and JG 5 on October 16 1944
I. & III./JG 4 clashed south of Dresden with 15th AF formations raiding Czech Protectorate.. see the Mombeeck Sturm book for more. II./JG 5 was subsequently re-designated as IV./JG 4 days later..
