B-25 - India-Burma Malaria Spraying Flight
Next to the many ground-based (US) Malaria Control Units in the CBI, there also was the India-Burma Malaria Spraying Flight, operating from Chabua (Assam, NE India). This under the India-Burma Air Service Command.
Some (3?) war-weary B-25s were installed with spraying tanks at Bangalore Air Depot to do the highly necessary anti-mosquito flights. This end 1944/early 1945. Any info welcome about the serials of the B-25s which (or is that) underwent conversion to "Skeeter Beaters". Thanks & regards, Leendert |

Re: B-25 - India-Burma Malaria Spraying Flight
Just to add that I received an account of the Spraying Flight for the period March-August 1945.
Other than details of what areas sprayed, pounds of DDT used on how many acres and flying hours, hardly any info of assigned a/c. Flight had 3 x B-25H at Chabua and also 6 x L-5 equipped for air spray at Tezgaon (= now Tejgaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh). In Aug 1945 the B-25H a/c were replaced by 3 x B-25J, but one of these "was wrecked during a test flight" prior to delivery. The B-25s had a 585 gallon bomb bay tank for spraying DDT and other anti-insect (flies, mosquitoes...) repellents. Regards, Leendert |
