Footage of 352nd FG + others and also George Preddy 6 victories footage.
'Lost' 352nd P-51 footage on Pathe news website. Includes Preddy. Is it new footage?
Guys, I was just flicking through this website and typed in Mustang. The first clip started playing, and there is a P-51C with a pilot talking with ground-crew. The markings on the side are GO, but that's all you see. I think it's unseen footage of 352nd at Bodney? http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=53259 This following clip is officially identified as original 352nd Guncam footage. Blimey! Can't believe I found it in the thousands of clips! http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=53841 IT GETS BETTERR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! keep watching this one: http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=53841 At 3.39, we see more 352nd P-51's of the 486th (marked PZ) as they buzz their airfield and at 4.20 Preddy in "Cripes A' Mighty 3rd arriving back at base with 6 victories! Can't believe I found it! Cheers, MP Last edited by Mysticpuma; 2nd April 2010 at 20:17. |

Re: 'New' footage of 352nd FG + others and also George Preddy 6 victories footage.
The second link is initially of the 352nd fighter sq., not group. The Preddy film at 4:28 is well known.
The same with the third link at 4:28. |

Re: 'New' footage of 352nd FG + others and also George Preddy 6 victories footage.
The first link was 354 FG clip,GQ was 355 FS code.Nice clip never seen that.
The second link was Lt. Miller from the 352 FS and I read some were he was one of the pilots that someone claimed shot up Gen. Rommel's staff car This gun camera clip might be why they "Claimed" he did. Going by that clip it is hard to believe someone would live though that . I gueess we will never know. Rick |

Re: follow-up to George Preddy 6 victories footage.
The Preddy fly-by, landing etc., was a reenactment on Aug. 7. The gun camera footage immediately following are Preddy's 6 vics. British Pathe has copyrighted this footage, but all the pictures and movie footage taken by US personnel are public domain and they cannot Copyright it unlike photographic items taken by the British government. So, British Pathe, under international copyright law cannot copyright the USAAF films.
The reason for the reenactment is that George was actually a bit hung over from a party the night before, became sick during the mission, and threw up in the cockpit. This is not what you need to film for news and propaganda, so they re-did it on August 7th. |

Re: 'New' footage of 352nd FG + others and also George Preddy 6 victories footage.
Oh well gents, thought I'd found the clip again. Still, it's interesting to see the footage and can through clips on the website, but yes it's a bit rich claiming copyright of USAAF footage?
Glad to share the info. though, some may not have seen it before. Cheers, MP. |

Re: Footage of 352nd FG + others and also George Preddy 6 victories footage.
Yes, that is public relations footage taken the day after Major George E Preddy, Jr set the ETO record by shooting down six Me 109s on August 6, 1944. You may see that footage and much more in a DVD produced by Sam Sox, "Preddy, The Mustang Ace." Visit www.preddy-foundation.org to learn more, or to order the DVD.
