Curtiss H-75A1

Hi,

There are two interesting pictures of Curtiss H-75A1 N°7 on the pages 83 and 93 in French book "Les Curtiss H-75" by Lionel Persyn. The N°7 was used by 1st Escadrille of the GC I/5 from 1939 till 18 May 1940 when Sgt Muselli c/l it after fight with He 111s.
There is not visible code (number) of this machine in the disc on rear for me. Does anyone help me with reply regarding:
1) The code ? I believe the code was applicated because of a long using this aircraft, in pre-war era too. I know there were machines of the GC I/5 which didn´t have the code in disc but they were mainly from new series and assigned / used in late May or early June.
2) The disc ? GC I/5 painted it in orange colour during Blitzkrieg (and later) but in blue one in autumn. Do we know when the colour was officialy changed ?
Any comments much appreciated.

Regards,
Michal

Re: Curtiss H-75A1

Hi,

1) Could have been 2 in 1939, but i'm really not sure of it. In October-November 1939, GC I/5 received new six-guns aircrafts (n°151 "1" for Accart, n°158 "2" for Marin-la-Meslée ...), but A1s' codes were not repainted before mai 1940. They were just covered in the first monthes of 1940. At the end of may 1940, new codes appeared (151 still "1", 217 "2", 224 "3" ... ).

2) Aircrafts from GC I/5, 1st escadrille, only had orange discs. Blue ones only for 2nd escadrille.

Regards,

Lionel Persyn
