Posting order.
I noticed that responding to a post brings the post to the top of the heap. Even if old. This IMHO, presents a problem with Ed's picture posts. As the forum index only shows the date of the last comment, and not the date of the original post, I'm not sure what postings by Ed I have seen or not seen. Easy to loose track.
Can you create just a forum line to which Ed West would post. That way it might be easier to keep track and prevent his posts from getting pushed back. An alternative is for Ed to date all his posts in the subject line.

The creation of a new forum, especially for Ed's photos, was offered by me, but not not reacted upon. Since I do not want to fragment the whole site into atoms or scare away Ed, I'd thought it more save to stop pushing the issue.
As for adding a date to the subject line, I've post edited a couple of Ed's posts, but again I was afraid that this would be interpreted as meddling as it didn't catch on.

re: date in the subject line
The date in the subject line is a cracking idea and a great solution to the issue... I'm sure Ed would not mind

What about forum with automatic purging of messages older than X days? I think than auctions older than two months are useless but I can be wrong.

Maybe with auctions that would be useful, but most queries are never fully resolved. I've noticed on other forums that people will sometimes contribute useful information to a thread a year or more after they were posted. Not to mention the usefulness of a searchable archive to limit the number of people posting the same questions over and over again!
All the best, Karl |

To Ruy and everyone else,
My apologies for not replying to earlier messages. Now that I have a feel for the new board, I would not be against having a separate "photo only" section so that my photo posts do not get lost among the other threads. Until then, I will add a date in the thread title for everyone's convenience. Regards, Ed |
