Re: Question about P-400's used by Russia
Hello Rolland,
Thanks for the link I knew that I had seen it somewhere but did not remember placing the question Also now do not know from where I got the "fact" that all the rest were sent to Russia Will have to search my old files Those that I listed here though were either diverted while in the USA or transfered after export from the USA to the USAAF. I wondered if they had been lost while in the USA or if they had been sent to Russia from the USA or from the AAF in Europe to Russia ? Many thanks Alex |

Re: Question about P-400's used by Russia
Check Lend-Lease and Soviet Aviation in the Second World War by Vladimir Kotelnikov. Published by Helion. It may have more details; It has a chapter on each type of US or RAF aircraft sent to the Soviet Union, regardless of the quantity. Available at the usual sources.
Enjoy! Frank.

Re: Question about P-400's used by Russia
Quote:
Vladimir Kotelnikov's, Lend-Lease and Soviet Aviation in the Second World War, whilst excellent on the technical aspects, operational use, markings and camouflage, it is singularly lacking in any mention of serials allocated to the Russian Airacobras (pp.191-244). You need to look elsewhere for that information. As an aside, re L-L&SAitSWW. Any prospective purchasers would do well to check the photo/colour profile section (between pp.244-257). The copy I received from a UK supplier had a complete chapter not bound in. The section (ix-xxiv), was there, but not bound into the book! It gave the impression of being added to the book after publication. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Col. Last edited by Col Bruggy; 8th July 2019 at 15:49. |

Re: Question about P-400's used by Russia
Very odd?
Whilst on this site at my local library I could not access the site of the link you gave. This is what I got - http://172.16.19.25:15871/cgi-bin/bl...ion=1006687688 But at home on my tablet I could with no problem ? |

Re: Question about P-400's used by Russia
Alex, it appears from the address you show that the library is blocking some sites or domains. Many libraries have policies on what sites can be viewed and many use software to actually block some sites. Sometimes the software will block more sites than intended.
