Nice data, thanks a lot!

Especially the GM1-part is nice!

Critics:
- there are several small errors in the german transscript,
- some interpretations in the text which I feel might be non-scientific... "machine not in good shape" (what does that mean?), pointing finger to a Spitfire-site which just states truly that in mid-1943, DB605 was not allowed to use full power. I personally would prefer a more objective text, but am happy about the data presented!

Have a nice weekend!

Hi,

1, the transcript and grammar needs to be checked, I agree, it's due to a bit of rush.

2, The 'pointing finger' is not because the correcltly noting db605 limitations, but the selective qouting of sources in order to show only the suckiest 109 tests.. Soviet, Finn, and Rechlin results being dismissed on made-up reasoning.

UPDATE

Messerschmitt AG. Augsburg - Leistungen Me 109 G mit DB 605 AS.
Versuchs-Bericht Nr. 109 20 L43.
January 1944.
(Factory performance trials with Bf 109G-5 WNr. 26 108, fitted with the new high-altitude DB 605 AS engine. In German.)

Kurfurst, I must give you credit... I lurk quite a bit on many boards where you post, such as AAW, Ubi boards, etc, and I've often thought you fight awfully hard over what seem to be the tiniest details. But to your credit, you really "put your money where your mouth is"... you do not make up claims simply out of thin air, you back up your statements with original documentation. While my main interest lies more in the operational history rather than the technical minutae of the type, I do find such documentation fascinating and helpful, and my hat is off to you for all your hard work.

Well done, and thanks for putting this stuff out there for us!

Lynn

Re: Some 109 flight tests here - http://www.kurfurst.bravehost.c

Hello Kurfürst
very interesting material. To me the most interesting document was the French evaluation on Bf 109E vs D.520 because there have been so conflicting opinions on the Dewoitine fighter. It seems that both camps have their points.

Because here in Finland there is naturally much interest on early Bf 109Gs’ performance, in those documents on Your pages on that subject which I have had time to go through there have not so much new to me but they are interesting anyway. And the graph which compared the performance of G-1 and FW 190 with BMW 801D and Jumo 213A is very interesting.
So thanks a lot for those documents and thanks also to G.G. Hopp.

Gratefully
Juha

Re: Some 109 flight tests here - http://www.kurfurst.bravehost.c

Thanks for all. Please note that in the hurry did not yet give the proper credit for all those who rightfully deserve it, above all to our dear Member George. And there's still a lot to do with formatting and spelling mistakes. Unfortunately, I have only one life to live, so either I correct those or add new material, can't do the two at the same time.

BTW, one of the next updates will be the French PERFORMANCE trials on 109E WNR 1304, which yielded very close to the V15a prototype results, as 570 kph was measured at critical alt.

Until then, there's another small update for today.
