Rudolf Ostarek,DKiG
Gentleman,
On Traces of War" website I found Stuka pilot Rudolf Osterak being awarded the German Cross in Gold in May 4th 1942. He passed away in 1977 in Germany. Do you have any information of Rudolf Osterak like how many war missions in total up to the surrender of Germany of May 8th of 1945? Was he nominated for the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross? What he did after WWII? His Stuka unit was SG-2. Edward L. Hsiao

I can’t find a member with this name in the history about SG 2 (La Stukageschwader 2 Immelmann”). Perhaps an error in the name or not the correct unit? Kind regards, Dirk

I have a record for Ostareck, Rudolf Fw (DKiG 4/5/42) no unit indicated though. No other information.

That's too bad. I was hopping to find about this little known Stuka pilot named Rudolf Ostareck. I know he made it through WWII. He was not the only one that was nominated for the Knight's Cross.
