Helmut Wick
Hi, Looking for information on Helmut Wicks aircraft Bf109 E-4 W/n 5344 I think flown by him when he was GeschwaderKommodore JG2 10/40. I would like to know what colour the cowling was as I can only find conflicting material. White or Yellow as Iam in the process of planning a painting of his a/c. Look forward to any help.
Thanks Rob |

Re: Helmut Wick
Good discussion on this here: http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/air...09s-23090.html
Thoughts are it was intitially white but soon painted yellow. Some pics and profiles suggest there remained a narrow white band on the back of the spinner while the cowl was yellow. |

Re: Helmut Wick
Rob:
A good reference book is Helmut Wick: An Illustrated Biography of the Luftwaffe Ace and Commander of Jagdgeschwader 2 During the Battle of Britain by Herbert Ringstetter and published by Schiffer Military History Books. This book has numerous photos and color illustrations of Wick's 109.
