Il-2 vs Hs126 May 1944

Hello!

19.May.44 and 22.May.44 two Hs126 were downed by wing guns of Il-2s (606.ShAP 280.SAD) west of Pskov (Pleskau).
The wreckage of the 2nd Hs126 was photographed from the air. Unfortunately, the only visible marking is a Balkenkreuz and a light band behind it.

I wonder which unit this plane belonged to (and the one shot down on May 19, if it really was shot down). Any details are interesting.

Best regards,
Andrey

Sorry, 2nd plane (downed 22.May.44) was Fi156, not Hs126

Privet!

He 46 and NSGr 3 or NSGr 1?
I have no data for their individual losses. Holm's site has some Flugzeugbestand und Bewegungsmeldungen.

Cheers,
Kari

Hello Kari,

NSGr seems doubtful as both episodes happened in the daytime but who knows ...

Cheers,
Andrey

Re: Il-2 vs Hs126 May 1944

Hello Andrey
On 22.5.44 maybe:
Verb.St. 5, F; Ostrow (16 km südl.); Jägerbeschuß; Fi 156; Wnr. 5425; b; Uffz. Ulber, Heinz; verw.; Ostfront.
On 19. maybe also Fi.156? Fl.Verb.G 2 recorded 2 Fi.156 damaged on the Eastern Front, one through "Tieffliegerangriff" and one through "Betriebsstörung" (technical failure).

Re: Il-2 vs Hs126 May 1944

It is realy possible:It's pretty typical case for VVS when Fi 156 is named as Hs 126

Re: Il-2 vs Hs126 May 1944

Furthermore the last unit equipped with the Hs 126, the 1.(H)/31, had left that area mid of February 1944 for Germany to become reequipped with the Bf 109G.

Thank you!
That sounds reasonable.

In the case of 22.5.44 the plane was mentioned as Hs156

Best regards,
Andrey
