Info Needed, Bf 110C C?+NJ

Hi;

I'm trying to locate information on sub-model, serial number and full manufacturers code for a Messerschmitt Bf 110C with a partial code of C?+NJ. I BELIEVE the second letter many be "F", but I cannot be positive. There is a picture of this bird in Volume 1 of Murawski's book (Kagero) on the 110. There is another aircraft behind it with a code that appears to be ?F+NR, which is why I theorize the second letter may be "F" as well.

Also, I need to know if the serial number would have been painted on the rear fuselage prior to painting (C?+NJ is unfinished, can't see the rear fuselage. ?F+NR behind it is already camouflaged, and the serial number appears on the rear fuselage forward of the tailplane in white (unfortunately unreadable.))

Any info greatly appreciated!

Paul

There was a bit of discussion on Bf110's in 2001! on TOCH.

From TOCH!:

Peter,
I have compared them with existing Stammkennzeichen/werknummer links. This is a very unreliable method, so the result is certainly no fact.
CF+NE could be 3064, a C-2. CF+NL could be 3071, a C-2. And DE+MP could be 3544, a C-4.

Dennis

Could yours therefore be Bf110 C W.Nr3062 CF+NJ if the above ties in?

regards

MS

Hate to throw a wrench in the works - per Balss, though by extrapolation the SKZ in question would stll be in the same block: Bf 110C-2, 3062, Neumann, Gefr. Heinz, , 7., NJG 101, , CF+NC, CF+NC, , 24-Oct-43, Killed in crash due to accidently striking the ground. Bf injured, FSA., , Nachtjagd, Balss, Deutsche Nachtjagd, p.155, , Fl.Pl. Ansbach, 100%, H, Bf Gefr. Walter Breidenbach, ,
