Fhr. Otto Leisner, 1./JG 300?
Hello,
Is Fhr. Otto Leisner of 1./JG 300 still alive? I am researching the air battle of Sep 13, 1944 and he was a participant. Thank you very much. Ray |

Re: Fhr. Otto Leisner, 1./JG 300?
Hi Ray
Leisner was born in 1924, and did survive the war. Have not being able to find a date of death, so may very well still be living. Should be an interesting guy as he ended the war with Jg7. He made at least four claims, of which three were confirmed:- 26th July 1944 1./Jg300 B-17 east of Bruck-am-der-Mur 1102 hrs 7100 metres Nr.1 13th September 1944 1./Jg300 B-17 Gerstungen area 1230 hrs u/c 27th September 1944 1./Jg300 Mustang east of Kassel 1055 hrs 8100 metres Nr.2 14th January 1945 4./Jg300 Mustang Rathenow area Nr.3 The first was as a Unteroffizier the others as a Fähnrich, he seems to have reached the rank of Oberfähnrich. Other claims that day for Jg300 were:- 3./Jg300 Uffz Alfred Buthe Mustang at Uder 1143 hrs 6500-7000 metres Nr.4 1./Jg300 Fw Hermann Berdelmann Mustang at Krefeld 1155 hrs 6000 metres v.n.e-a.s.m Nr.2 2./Jg300 Gefr Hans Dahmen B-17 at Dinkelbuhl 1220 hrs 7200 metres 1./Jg300 Fhr Klaus Lambio B-17 Gerstungen area 1230 hrs u/c 10./Jg300 Lt Kurt Welter Mustang at Salzwebel 1740 hrs 5000 metres v.n.e-a.s.m Nr.31 10./Jg300 Lt Karl Mitterndorf Mustang at Braunschweig 2315 hrs 8000 metres Nr.1 2./Jg300 Fw Hans Joachim Riedel Mustang Bergheim area u/c 6./Jg300 Fw Rudolf Zwesken Mustang west of Eisenach u/c 2./Jg300 Manfred Dieterle B-17 at Eisenach 1213-1223 hrs 7200 metres h.s.s-v.n.e-a.s.m Nr.7 I cannot find a date of death for Dieterle, I know he was born on 25th May 1922 and in February 1945 he became the Staffelkapitän of 2./Njg200, so quite possibly survived the war. Kind Regards Johannes |

Re: Fhr. Otto Leisner, 1./JG 300?
Johannes, Peter and Kaczmarek,
Thank you for your time and help. Peter, can you post a link for the phone book you used? A relative of the pilot of the plane, Lt. Harry Eck (Eck was cousin to his mother) visited Neustaedt in June to see the crash site of Mag the Hag the 2nd, the B-17 that Leisner may have made the last attack on before it crashed there on Sep 13. I have not seen a confirmation for this, have you? |
