Question about 2 sqd 1st group JG 51 airfield raid 1 august 1941
Hi Guys,
2.I./JG 51 raided Solov’evka airfield (52.2096053N, 32.1912825E) on August 1, 1941 and destroyed 20 aircraft on the ground, 3 in the air. Does anyone know more about this raid? Types of aircraft shot down or destroyed on the ground? How many Bf 109s were involved? Any German losses? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

1 August 1941
Hello oquaig
2./JG 51 had no claims nor losses that day so any claims recorded were ground victories. Leutnant Bernd Gallowitsch and Unteroffizier Willi Hegner of 10./JG 51 claimed SB-2 twin-engined bombers, two by the former at 14:20 and 14:23 (17-18) and one by the latter at 14:28 (6) but these were the only victories claimed by JG 51 on a day that the Geschwader suffered no losses. I hope this helps. Horrido! Leo |

Sorry, I should have made it more clear, they were ground victories.
