Underwing W4 classification on Fw 190 D-9
Dear All,
Reading through volume I and the appendix of volume II of JaPo's Fw 190 D epos concerning the wing undersurface colour, the late Eric and Marc classified them in 4 categories, depending on the manufacturer. Reading closer the appendix of volume II I suspect that their W4 classification is on a death’s end (W4 means front half in the main camouflage colour of the upper wing and the rest in RLM 76 or light blue). I would like to hear your opinion about this…

Re: Underwing W4 classification on Fw 190 D-9
Not crazy, camouflage became more important as a/c were hidden in forests and wooded areas etc, this would have helped making them less visible to low flying fighter bombers and recon a/c.
So in principle a valid option.

Ruy,
I completely agree with you, but I need evidence! Perhaps I'm to focused to study those books, and I do not found any further (pictural) evidence of this to happen, so...
