Thumbs up Re: nantes flugplatz

GOOD EVENING
Sorry for the delay in replying...Many thanks for the map...but I know it because I have the same.
Before 1945, I suppose it was more difficult to obtain...

Re: Nantes flugplatz

Hello Alain.

3 years ago I did an article about Jean Demozay in a French modelling Magazine (REPLIC) And I think, I suppose you knew, that Demozay took off on the 17th june 40 from Nantes to England on a Bombay.

So I would like to know if you have found some fotos of the airfield at this time (June 1940). It seems that the Bombay was there on the airfield 2 or 3 weeks before.

By advance thank you

Dear many

I saw a photos of a Bombay a few weeks in a sale by auction in Ebay site; But I don't know if the picture was taken at Nantes airfield.

A the arrival of german troops in 1940 19th june the airfield was filled of aircrafts wrecks... LeO451, Fairey Battle and Hurricane destroyed by french worker of SNCAo (LeO451) and british troops( Battle and Hurrys) just before the evacuation.
I possess only three little photos of the airfield after the arrival of Germans. The quality is poor but gives a good idea of the state of the airfield.
Friendly.

Re: nantes flugplatz

Hello.

Sorry for the delay of my answer (I was in England)

At the arrival of the Germans there were no bombay on the airfield of Nantes.

I will be very interested to see these photos, any opportunity to see the codes of the Hurricane (TP for the 73, SD for the 501, and JX for the 1 Sqn. Maybe others LE for the 242) ?

By advance thank you.
