Found Gibson. No post-war Navy career. He died in 2008.
Former Sen. Jack Anderson Gibson of Boydell, Ark., passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008. Born March 3, 1920, Mr. Gibson was a lifelong resident of Southeast Arkansas. Jack Gibson served the state of Arkansas and his country all of his life. After completing his secondary education in Louisiana, he became a navel aviator and flew in the carrier task force during World War II. A decorated naval pilot, Mr. Gibson has been recognized by the Navy with shooting down the last enemy aircraft before peace was declared. After the war, he returned to the United States and finished college at Mississippi State University. He entered business with his father where they operated a farm, cotton gin and agricultural-spraying service. |
