Josef Emmerich.

Survived crash landing in Ireland. Interned in Curragh Camp. Married Irish girl on the day before transfer to Allied forces after cessation. Where did he go to? Wife remained in Ireland all her life. Assumed he went to Australia but also that he died accidentally there soon after arriving. Do not know where he came from in Germany. I am a newcomer to this forum so any help very gratefully received.
Andy

Re: Josef Emmerich.

Andy , there is a Josef Emmerich born 11 June 1915 , listed in the National

Archives of Australia with a date range of 1951-1965.Could be your man.

I have attached link , it normally cost about AUD 25.00 to get a copy of the file.

Re: Josef Emmerich.

Uffz Josef Emmerich was the BO of a He 111 H-5, 4063, V4+DK of 8./KG 40 which came down in the sea near Blackwater 5-6 May 41. Justin Horgan's book has nothing more on him. He was born 11 Jun 15 in Bornheim-Bonn so looks like a match
