Re: Fiat G50 165-12 Tunisia

12° Gruppo, whom 165a Sq. belonged, operated in Afrika in the period 7 august 1941- 11 august 1942, coming back to Italy and receiving Macchi C.200.

In the list of the 94 Regia Aeronautica aircraft that landed in Tunisia and Algeria in 1942 contained in the book published in 1975 by the late Giancarlo Garello, "Regia Aeronautica e Armée de l'Air 1940-43", there is only an unidentified G.50, landed in september that year receiving such damages to be declared " fuori uso" (out of order); in 1941 33 italian aircraft landed in Tunisia or Algeria but the author didn't found any detail of them.

So, it's possible that 165-12 landed in the french territory in 1941.

Saluti
