Re: Walrus 765 Squadron shot down 7/10/40
From FAA a/c 1939/45 does have the following -
7/10/40, 765 Sqn. Sandbanks rescue mission S/D by EA 7-8 miles South of Anvil Point 1800 hrs. Lt.M C Hoskin and Lt. T E Rose-Richards both killed. Serial number unknown. The report seems to be accurate even down to a time, so if this was not by enemy action then how were these men killed ? |

There is a Royal Navy casualty file, ADM 358/281, for this loss at The National Archives. However they list one of the crew as Temporary Lt. T.E. Essery-Richards RNVR. You may need to visit to access the file as paid researchers are put off from working there at present due to restrictive conditions imposed by TNA, some which appear to predate Covid.
Regards, Martin Gleeson. |
