354th Fighter Group 12 September 1944

On this date the 354th and 4th FG encountered JG2 and JG11. The German losses were at least sixteen Fw190A-6/A-8 and a significant number of pilots.

However a reading of various sources indicates that the victories for the 354th FG were from twenty-two to twenty eight in the air, and eight on the ground (on the same date 4th FG claimed five Fw190).

According to CieldeGloire of the air kills twenty-three for the 353rd and five for 355th.

I know CieldeGloire has been accused of being innaccurate at times but overall it does reflect most sources. Cross-refencing with the ace list of the 353rd supports their database. Claimants among the 353rd include the aces Carr, Dahlberg, Overfield, Reynolds and Rudolf who claim seventeen between them - another pilot claims three!

Does anyone have a definitive listing of the 354th FG claims on this date?

If Frank Olynyk is anything to go by Keith, you have

353FS 23/1/1
355FS 5/1/1

Again, with Frank's permission, I can scan you the relevant pages.
You can chose between having the full day claims (102) or the above two units

Cheers
Stig

Keith,

All 354th FG victory credits are listed in my Victory List 6 (ETO), which is out of print, but hopefully will be back in print eventually. But Steve Blake's The Pioneer Mustang Group (2008) is in print (Amazon and Schiffer), a massive book, is in print and has a complete list as well (based on my list).

Stig: feel free to copy, if Keith wants a list.

Enjoy!

Frank.
