Ofw.Johann Klein 1/JG76, later III/JG52.

Hi, Ofw. Johann Klein of 1/JG76 claimed a Polish PZL- 23 shot down on 7.9.39.

By early spring of 1940 I have him with III/JG52, would anybody happen to know which staffel he flew with?
The flugbuch copy I have, as him flying up to 26.5.41, what was his fate there after.
Any help appreciated.
Steve.

Re: Ofw.Johann Klein 1/JG76, later III/JG52.

Hi Leo, thanks ever so much for this information on Klein.
So it appears he transfered to 6/JG52 either the end of May 1941 early June,
in time for the Russian campaign, this I didn't know as the flugbuch only goes up to 26.5.41 and I do know he was credited with 10 kills.
This gives me a good basis to work from now, thanks once again for your help.

Best regs,
Steve.

Hi Steve,

the unit of Stfw Klein was the 9./JG 52, not the 6./JG 52, sorry.

Klein is mentioned frequently in Graf and Grislawski by Bergstrom.

Hi Russell, that's very interesting to know.
Unfortunately that title is missing from my collection and I haven't seen one in ages.
Is it well illustrated and are there any listings of a/c flown by these two aces?

Best regs,
Steve.

Steve

There is a recent second edition in German, and it has more photos, but all additions have very good photo collections. Some serial numbers are mentioned.

Regards

Russell

Question Re: Ofw.Johann Klein 1/JG76, later III/JG52.

Does anyone know the fate of Johann Klein flying days in the Eastern Front? Did he survived WWII?
