Ju88 A-4 W. Nr. 8721 V4+VR - lost over Russia - any further info?

Appears this wreck was recovered in 2016...and from the pics, it was a belly-landing, followed by a fire (destroyed by crew?). was told 7/KG1...but any further info on this one?

TIA

Mike

Thanks Leo...

Interesting...

The odd thing is that it belly-landed, and apart from an obvious fire, it was fairly intact. Wonder what happened to the crew?

Maybe the crew set fire to the aircraft after a successful belly landing..?
Just a hunch - no proof for this, Im afraid.
With kind regards,
Piet

Here are some:

Should be V4+ER...not V4+VR...

Harrison
Is the WNr verified on the find from 2016? From where does the code V4+VR originate in such a case? Misreading or misprint?

Leo/Matti
Does your sources verify the code for WNr 8721?

Matti
I have noticed you sometimes use the word Kampbeobachter instead of the standard word Beobachter. Were there actually any difference between these functions, or is the word Kampf more of an honorary title? After all the actual work must have been pretty much the same.

Cheers
Stig

I have no code for 8721. No casualties and therefore no NVM.

Obviously no difference in functions between Beobachter and Kampfbeobachter in the aircraft, but very probably different training. "Real" Beobachter seems to be better trained.
I kick the ball to our German members.
