SPITFIRE LOSSES 18 JUNE 41

On this evening, 145 Sqn lost Sgt K Palmer (P8254) and Sgt G M Turnbull (P8328). The former was an NZ-er so was he NZ.401406 and was Turnbull 1546947? Anyone know their christian names? Both were captured probably shot down by Galland and Sprick, the former saying his was 1km east of Ardres

Re: SPITFIRE LOSSES 18 JUNE 41

John: Just spoken to the son of Sgt George Morton Turnbull who was shot down on with 57 Sqn 22-23 Oct 43. Surely 2 George Morton Turnbulls were not captured? Must have been 748060 G M B Turnbull with 145 Sqn

Re: SPITFIRE LOSSES 18 JUNE 41

According to the RAF Commands POW database, 1546947 George Morton Turnbull was the one shot down on 18.06.41 with 145 Sqn. However this must be in error as pointed out by Chris Goss. 748060 was Gordon McDonald Turnbull per AIR 78 and he is also listed as a POW.

Regards,
Tom
