in which Fighter trainigng squadron did the 412th FS pilot have training in summer 1944 in UK?

Hi all,

Searching about a 412th FS pilot, I would be very interested to learn which one squadron(s) served as "Fighter Training Squadron" in UK in july and august 1944.

The pilot arrived in Gourok (Scottland) with Queeen Mary on July 8th, but joined the 412th FS two monthes later. So it seems he had a stay in another (training) unit during those two monthes.

Any idea about it?

Thanks for any possible help,

Mathias

Mathias -
He would have Trained in the 495th Fighter Training Group,
551st and 552d Training Sqds.
Atcham , England.
495th trained ONLY P-47 Pilots for the 8th AF and 9th AF

He could also have been sent to the 496th FTG at Goxhill, they were operating a mix of P-51B / C and P-38G / J during 1944.

The 412FS/373rd FG flew only P-47s so 495FTG would have been the primary replacement pilot insertion point for ETO P-47 pilots.
