Re: Photo : A/c - Werk Nr.: 701 412

Just for interest, according to CEA265 (Crashed Enemy Aircraft report) and others, this was:
He 111 H-20 (WNr. 701412), marked S3+HK (H=red o/l white), last with 2./I./TG30. Pilot was Kniep, Fw. Heini +3. Had been carrying supplies, 45/02/01, Bous-Heesberhaff, Luxembourg.
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin

S3+HK was heading for La Rochelle when it was shot down.

P.S. What is the language of the document linked to, Luxembourgish?

Re: Photo : A/c - Werk Nr.: 701 412

The NVM for S3+HK 701412 gives crew as Ff Fw Heini Kniep , B Fw Udo Fritz,
Bf Ofw Josef Kallinge, Bm Fw Hans Kraja all missing and Bd Ogef.Wilhelm Tachmann as Pow. Other reports show crash location as Heesberhaff on the German/Luxembourg border and that Tachmann ended the war in hospital at Swindon with vertebrae fractures as his parachute was damaged possibly by fire,

This is native luxemburgish. It is a dialect, related to the German language with some Dutch and little French elements. Today, it's spoken in Luxemburg, some parts of Belgium and France and in Germany in the Trier, Bitburg and Prüm area. Those, who grew up with the language, are well able to read and understand it. But in literature, this language in printed form is very rare, so you only find it in local papers or like here, in local historical publications.
