The loss of two Ta 152s of JG 11
Hello
I have questions, according to D. Hermann JG 11 lost two Ta 152s to Spitfires in the last days of April 1945 during the transfer from Neustadt-Glewe to Leck airfield and a third Ta 152 of that Schwarm made a belly landing at Leck airfield. But according to http://www.ww2.dk/air/jagd/jg11.htm the transfer happened on 2 May 1945 and as it happened F/L D.I. Hall claimed on that day three Fw 190s and one Me 108 destroyed and one of each damaged near and over Neustadt Glewe aerodrome. see: http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.o...all_2may45.jpg . So far so good, the problem is that Hall reported nothing extraordinary on the Fw 190s, so he didn't notice, or at least not reported, long-span wings, which not necessarily means anything, the level of a/c recognition was what it was. But on the other hand Hitchcock in his Ta 152 book claims that two Ta 152C-1s were hastily delivered to JG 301. So the questions: Are there nowadays more accurate info on the Ta 152 losses of the JG 11, where and on which date? Was any Ta 152C (or E-1) delivered to a combat unit? And if was, was it possible that those would have ended to JG 11? TIA Juha |

Re: The loss of two Ta 152s of JG 11
quoted from our old LEMB:
CJE: JG 301 carried out its last operational mission on 30 April and was ordered to leave its aircraft at Neustadt-Glewe where they would be collected by JG 11. As far as is known, Stab/JG 11 took over four Ta 152 Hs. Two were shot down by Spitfires during the ferry flight from Neustadt-Glewe to Leck and one crash-landed at Leck, leaving only one survivor, probably WNr. 150010 of Lt. Mehling. |

According to Prien/Rodeike a Ta 152 of JG 11 landed near Vejle in Denmark.

Re: The loss of two Ta 152s of JG 11
Hello Soren
Thank you for your message. It seems that the career of Ta 152 at JG 11 wasn't too successful, from what I have read, JG 11 got 4 to 6 Ta 152s, of which two were lost during the transfer flight from Neustadt-Glewe to Leck and one made a belly landing at Leck at end of that flight. And a few days later another bellied near Vejle, not too good. Thanks for the info! Juha Ps and congratulations for your excellent site, I have used it many times in the past. |
