Battle of France (new book Czech)

Hello all,

a new, completely rewritten book (original published in 1998 and 2003)about Czechoslovakian participation in Battle of France has been released in Czech republic last week. The book covers the beginning in Foreign Legion during mid 1939, training, involvement in air activities during Phoney War and Battle of France and finally evacuation of personnel during June/July 1940 on day by day basis.
Although released in Czech language and thus unreadable for majority of TOCH members it contains almost 1700 photos - personnel, airplanes, various documents (Czech, French, German origin) , 150 color camouflage schemes and various detailed tables (awards, losses, claims etc.).

Regards David

Smile Price of book "Battle of France" (new book in Czech)

I tried to convert the Czech crowns (ah, these royals!) into euros on the Internet. I found a price of approx. 61 euros (plus P & P it seems). No guarantee! This is a very big book with very numerous photographs, certainly worth the price in particular if you understand the mysterious Czech language!

Re: Price of book "Battle of France" (new book in Czech)

Hi all,

it it really amazing book, the price is about 1 CZK for 1 page:-) but there are also some negatives:

1) not so many new information and photo for such a price if you have previous edition
2) the book is terrible heavy to hold
3) I am a little bit worried how long the backbone will last...

The book is available in Czech internet bookshops too but unfortunately most of them has website only in English.

Hi all,

I have spent nearly 1 hour in one book store and made the second overlook of the book and I need to change my original opinion - the book is really well improved with a lot of new photos some of theme really rare and published for the first time.

Re: Battle of France (new book Czech)

I am visiting in Prague and I just came across this book at Luxor. I was seriously tempted to buy it and may have to go back for it. Although I may need to purchase a new suitcase to bring it home! It is seriously thick and heavy. For those who don't read Czech, of which I am one, it still offers a TON of pictures. I have bought plenty of foreign books in languages I cannot read and this one would be at the top. Just have to figure out how to get it home...

Hello!

How much it would cost to send by post or parcel carrier to your home? Perhaps less than new case and possible costs for overweight during flight.

Cheers,
Kari
